Fantastic! This is the second time I have made a stop here and still just as tasty and friendly as the first time. A casual seat your self dining, that serves the best chicken fried bacon ever! Located in Snook, TX just a few minutes from College Station. Their chicken fried steak and cheeseburgers are pretty good too! Everyone is super friendly and you are treated like a local here. Not to mention the cool decor of Fire and Rescue team shirts that adorn the walls. Whenever I am in College Station, this is a must stop!

I've heard about this place for years only b/c three of my younger in-laws are former Aggies. This place used to be a regular hangout for them. So on a recent Saturday we decided to gather the whole group, drive 90 minutes from the Georgetown area and have a couple of birthday celebrations in Snook at the renowned Sodolak's Steakhouse, or Original Country Inn. Shanna was our server and she did a magnificent job of keeping our group of 12 satisfied with appetizers, drinks topped off, plates cleared, condiments refreshed, napkins, etc. If anyone ever complains about service here it's likely not Shanna's fault. Evidently, she's been an employee here, and a great one for many years. Thanks again Shanna! Everything you've read about how big the steaks are is real. The sirloin steak starts at "extra small" which equates to 16 oz., or a full pound. They get bigger from there. Same with the chicken fried steaks. If you get the large portion it is two small steaks. But each small steak will just about cover the plate. Hope you're hungry. We sampled most of the appetizers including the famous chicken fried bacon, jalapeno poppers, fried mushrooms, onion rings and corn nuggets. OMG. They were all fantastic. The CF bacon comes with a side of white gravy for dipping but the shroooms comes with a bowl of excellent ranch dressing. My ribeye was cooked just right, medium rare, and seasoned perfectly. I would estimate the uncooked weight to be about 18-20 ounces, boneless. My only knock is I think the owner needs to upgrade their knives. The ones they issue are cheap, dull and don''t cut very well which makes one tend to think the steaks are not very tender, which is not true. I got the standard fries and salad with mine instead of upgrading to the baked potato. However, for those that got the baked potato you receive a generous basket full of butter, cheese and sour cream for toppings.

We liked this place. I got chicken fried chicken (small). It was absolutely delicious. Seasoned so well without being overdone. The ranch was good as well. It tasted like it's a sour cream based recipe. It had a really nice taste regardless of what it is made with. My husband got the hamburger steak, and he loved it. He said it was cooked perfectly. Our server was friendly, professional, and great at her job. The prices were good as well. We got a lot of food, 2 orders of hush puppies, and a soda for under 30! We will be back soon, for sure.

Wow! Chicken fried bacon! And corn nuggets (not hush puppies). This was a delicious meal. The chicken fried steak (small) was huge! The service was friendly and fast! All the food came out HOT! SO happy we chose to eat here!

This is a popular restaurant amongst the Aggies. I’ve taken my parents and then my relatives there at another time. They all enjoyed it. We like how they use the mason jars for drinks. The lemonade is really good. We tried the chicken fried bacon and it’s delicious. We’ve ordered other items there too and the portions are large. They have a great steak special too.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing, the food was fantastic and our server was wonderful. There were shirts on the wall from hundreds of fire departments from all over. We will come back and I recommend Solodaks to everyone.

Excellent place to have lunch or dinner in a quieter part of Texas. The portion sizes of the steaks are gargantuan, even the "small" ones! Friendly staff and laid back atmosphere makes this place an easy choice to visit over and over again. If you're feeling like really bulking up for the winter go ahead and get the country fried bacon with gravy too.

Before this place was Internet famous for chicken fried bacon, we knew it for giant portions. The "large" of whatever steak you're getting is often a second full piece of meat. They are not known for fine dining and gourmet cuts. If you want a lot of beef, this is the place. The beer is served with frosted mugs, which is awesome. I stop by whenever I'm at the college for football. And from the decorations, every volunteer fire department that comes up for training stops there too.
